Fall 2022

UFSC, led by JohnPaul Lteif and Ethan Jenkins, was able to secure another SCSA League Championship and automatic bid to the NIRSA Region 2 Tournament following an undefeated SCSA regular season (3-0-2). In addition, UFSC A and UFSC B squads both fell just short of securing the A.C. Moore Classic trophy, as both squads bowed out in the Semi-Finals. UFSC hoped for a better showing at the Clemson Socctoberfest Tournament, but dealing with a freshly injury depleted squad, UFSC bowed out of the group stage. However, while UFSC did not return with any silverware, it was a major turning point in the season, as the squad was able to develop increased chemistry and desire for a post-season run. Entering the NIRSA Region 2 Tournament, there was a fire burning within the team, and riding on the back of Regional Tournament Team performances by Devin Ortega, UFSC was able to reach the Regional Semi-Finals. After this strong Regional performance, UFSC secured a bid to the NIRSA Championship Series National Championships in Round Rock, TX. At the tournament, UFSC battled hard in both group games, but unfortunately bowed out of the main bracket following a 1-0 loss to UConn and 1-1 Draw with Texas Tech. Still searching for a win in Texas, UFSC made light work of Delaware in a 4-2 win in the consolation bracket before falling to USC 3-2 in the consolation semi-final in the early morning and frigid cold rain of Texas. Overall, it was an important season getting UFSC back to the place it needed to be, challenging for National Championships. The squad looks forward to building on this season's performance and challenging for the National Championship in the Fall of 2023.
